How to stop making excuses and take responsibility
One of the biggest obstacles of our goal achieving journey is excuses. No matter which stage you are in your life excuses will always be there but opportunities won’t. As Tim Fargo said- “Excuses are the rocks where our dreams are crushed” .So let's stop making excuses and start making changes.
Here are five easy steps to overcome making excuses:
1. Understanding why you are making excuses
The first step to stop making excuses is to understand why you are making it to begin with. Try to acknowledge what are your excuses then try to understand the reasons behind the excuses. Fear, uncertainty and lack of purpose are the most common reasons we make excuses.Try to figure out what are your reasons.I you can do that it will be easier for you to stop making excuses.
2. Set tiny goals instead of bigger goal
If you make big goals soon you will get overwhelmed and lose your motivation. It will be easier for you to make excuses then.So instead of setting bigger goals subtract them into tiny goals. Then it will be easier for you to finish those tiny goals and harder for you to make excuses.
3. Be consistent
Whatever you do, be consistent.Take action everyday .even if it is a small step toward your goal do that.Remember consistency is the key to success.
4. Change your attitude
Turn your negative thoughts into positive thoughts. Take responsibilities toward your action.Stop blaming others because of your mistakes.Own up your mistakes. It's okay to make mistake. Not only you can learn from your mistakes ,you can also analyze what went wrong and figure out how you can do better in the future.
5. Remind yourself why you started
Sometimes it's hard to see the bigger picture. It takes time to get the result. Sometimes you will feel unmotivated and want to quit.On that time remind yourself why you started . It’ll keep that spark within you and stop you from making excuses.
If you want something there is always a way which may not be very easy or not the same as you pictured in your head but if you start you will go there eventually.
